Best Business Books of 2006: #4 – Six Thinking Hats

The entry was on my list for awhile, and I’m glad to have finally gotten around to it: Six Thinking Hats by Edward de Bono

It’s a memorable, brilliant way to engage in meaningful meetings, conversations, brainstorming, and creative thinking.

The gist: everyone in a meeting wears the same
colored hat at the same time, getting in the same mindset. By focusing
on one part of the task/challenge/issue, it “allows the brain to
maximize its sensitivity in different directions at different times.”
The focus is on parallel thinking.

In the year ahead, I hope to try this out more in practice; let me know if you’ve had any success (or frustration) with it.
