Expanding EZPass

Idea of the day:

Why not expand E-Z Pass (or toll tags, or whatever automated system you might have to pass through highway tolls quickly by paying automatically from a device inside your car) to shopping malls?

They shouldn’t be confined to the highways, and large parking garages where visitors return sporadically and pay as they go (malls, casinos, and the like) would be perfect spots.

The long-term parking garage at SFO is going to enable EZPass. I assume it will timestamp when you come and go and charge you appropriately.

I’ve always wished my EZ-Pass would work at the McDonald’s Drive-Thru. Of course, I’m paranoid enough about someone being able to track everywhere I’ve travelled. I don’t think I could bear prying eyes finding out every time I snuck an order of fries.
