Microsoft’s got a new engine update at live.com. Most of it seems pretty subtle, though I noticed that it does have Microsoft’s Encarta coming up for searches relating to quick answers. It only works sporadically though – Encarta appeared with a featured answer for "When was Jesus born?" but not "Where was Jesus born?" Similarly, Encarta came up for "When was the Declaration of Independence signed?" but not "Where was the Declaration of Independence signed?" So, kids, use Live.com for When, not Where.
I haven’t seen much that stands out with the engine update, and often engine updates focus more on the algorithm than the interface, so the changes may appear subtle even when they’re dramatic. I haven’t tried it out much yet but will make a point to do so soon.
