The SXSW award winners are out, and they include a healthy mix of old and new, utility and fun, and abstract and practical.
Best of Show went to Launchball, which is a strange choice for the judges’ favorite as I’m not convinced this is really one of the best new sites out there, but it is an incredibly well designed strategy game that can easily kill at least a few hours of your day.
I’m happy to see a few personal favorites listed, including Flock, the web browser I mentioned a couple weeks ago.
Also taking home a trophy is Mosio, mentioned as one of the Eight Search Sites to Watch in yesterday’s column.
I can’t say I’m particularly inspired by this list, but it’s a good one to review to get a sense of some of the sites that are a step outside of the mainstream web.
